Product Overview

3M Novec 1902 Electronic Grade Coating is a single-component fluorinated polymer solution utilizing 3M Novec 7100 and 7200 Engineered Fluids as the solvent system, forming a low-viscosity, low-surface-tension transparent coating solution. Specifically designed for moisture and corrosion protection of printed circuit boards and electronic components, it dries to an ultra-thin transparent film with excellent hydrophobic and oleophobic properties. Requiring no curing process and featuring easy application, the product offers outstanding environmental and safety characteristics including non-flammability, zero ozone depletion potential, low toxicity, low global warming potential, RoHS compliance, and U.S. EPA VOC exemption status.

1.Optimized Application Parameters

Novec 1902 has a density of 1.43 g/ml (@23°C), a boiling point of 78°C, and no flash point, ensuring safety during storage and application. Its extremely low viscosity and surface tension allow easy application through various methods including spraying, dipping, brushing, or selective dispensing, with touch-dry achieved within minutes at room temperature.

 

2.Exceptional Dry Film Performance

The dried coating thickness can be controlled between 0.1-10 microns, appearing colorless and transparent. It demonstrates excellent dual-phobic properties with static contact angles of 105° (water) and 65° (hexadecane). The coating exhibits good thermal stability, maintaining performance after 24 hours at 175°C, with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 44.5°C. Electrically, it features a dielectric constant of 3.2 (@1kHz), dissipation factor of 0.002, and dielectric strength up to 2000 V/mil, meeting insulation requirements for precision electronic applications.
